Why Coneygar?
The whole team here appreciate and understand what a big step coming into care is. The feeling of loss of independence and moving out of home can be very difficult to come to terms and cope with.
As a family owned independent care home, our small & friendly team understand this and will provide the support needed, every step of the way. Providing a relaxed, friendly environment with staff that go that extra mile, sets us apart from many care homes and we welcome our residents as part of the ‘Coneygar Family’.
Delivering outstanding homely care
Our Home
A former stabling yard for the Colfox estate, Coneygar Lodge is set in a peaceful private estate, above the historic market town of Bridport.
Our accommodation is across 4 different buildings set around a courtyard, creating a community atmosphere rather than an institutional feel, with some of the building over 120 years old. In total we have 22 rooms, all en-suite and some with their own shower & bathes. All bar 3 rooms are accessible from the ground floor and our 3 upstairs rooms are served by a stair lift.
We have a large landscaped, accessible garden with a good variety of shrubs and flowers, a rustic sun shelter and summerhouse ensure the garden can be enjoyed whatever the weather. We also have our own accessible greenhouse and raised planters for our residents to use and enjoy. At the bottom of our garden we have a vegetable patch and routinely grow our own vegetables for use in our kitchen. We hold an annual summer fete, raising money for charity and hold an amazing fire work display & bonfire in November.
Accessible through a private footpath, the centre of Bridport is only a few minutes’ walk away or a short car ride in one of our own fully accessible vehicles.
Across our 4 accommodation buildings, we have 3 communal areas. The Lodge lounge is our largest space with a dining and seating area plus conservatory to the side. A majority of our main activities are enjoyed in this space. In the building we refer to as the Stables, we have smaller quieter lounge that is ideal for families or friends to use as it provides a cosy and more intimate area. Finally we have our large conservatory attached to the House. Fully rebuilt in 2018, this lovely bright & airy space offers views across the garden – some of our residents choose to have their meals here.
We have a custom built kitchen block that serves the whole home and are proud to say that we’ve achieved the full 5 out of 5 star rating for food hygiene every year since the ratings began.
In terms of bathing options, we have an assisted hi-low bath with hydraulic seat as well as a full wet room and so everyone at Coneygar has the option of either bath or shower.
One of our aims is to care for our residents to end-of-life and we have extensive experience in this area, working to the ethos set-out in the Gold Standards Framework. We have the equipment necessary to assist our staff including profiling electric beds and pressure relieving mattresses and cushions.
All our bedrooms have their own toilet & basin and come fully equipped and furnished with flat screen TV and a wireless call bell system to summon staff 24/7. We encourage our residents to personalise their rooms (we want the room to be as homely as possible for our residents), and so are happy for items of furniture, pictures etc to be brought in so it can feel as much like home as possible.
Free complimentary wi-fi is available across the site.
At Coneygar, we strive to create a homely, warm and relaxing environment and we encourage you drop in and have a look around anytime.
